I drove from CO to WI to look at my 2nd Z...but only arranged to meet with a mechanic once I was out there - mistake! It looked and drove great on the way to the shop, and it was my first time driving a Stage III ZTT, so I was thrilled. However, once I got there (it was a shop specializing in Zs, the name escapes me at the moment, talked to a nice guy named Paul), they looked it over for 1 1/2 hrs and told me I would be paying about $4k too much if I bought it. OUCH! The seller was asking for $12,900 for a '91 TT w/ 80k miles. When I pointed out the undercarriage rust, bad camber/tire wear, shot brakes, etc, he offered to drop the price a "few hundred bucks for my trouble." Sheesh. It wasn't fun driving that rental car back to Colorado when I was anticipating it being in my new Z :( However, I did get a speeding ticket in Iowa (I Oughta Went Around) so it would've been much worse in the Z :P The third Z I had inspected in advance, and had a round-trip plane ticket just in case. As it happened I was able to drive that one home, and for $3k less :D
